For general use with all Ion Exchange Resins, these towers are mainly used by our customers for the dry-washing of Bio Diesel
Brands vary, but the design is to a DIN spec so is standardised, we have listed all the sizes we can get, and these span multiple ranges from different manufacturers, including Pentair, Wave Cyber etc. If you have a specific need for a particular brand please email us first to check which brand we are offering.
For optimum performance, resin manufacturers recommend a minimum resin bed depth of 3 times the vessel diameter, the tower should also be filled with only 50% of its capacity with resin to allow for expansion
IMPORTANT - IF THE VESSEL IS FILLED WITH RESIN TO GREATER THAN 50% OF ITS TOTAL CAPACITY, THE RESIN, AS IT REACHES EXHAUSTION WILL DESTROY THE DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM AND BLOW OUT OF THE TOP, YOU WILL THEN NEED A REPLACEMENT DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM. WE THEREFORE RECOMMEND WHEN FILLING YOUR OWN TOWER THAT YOU COMPLY WITH THE MAXIMUM RECOMMENDED VOLUME
Construction Constructed from wound Polyglass, wrapped around a strong Polyethylene Inner Shell, and fitted with a Polypropylene & PVC Distribution Tube
Pumped Supply There are few pumps which will normally pump as slow as is required to supply the smaller vessels. We recommend a continous duty gear pump such as the Viscomat Gear Series would be most appropriate due to the increased resistance of the Resin.
Emtying & Discharging Emptying these towers can be a messy business, this is because the resin eventually expands to fill the vessel and it can be difficult to 'dig' it out around the central shaft. In this case it may be necessary to unscrew the cap, and wash the resin out with bio diesel via the distribution system, filtering the resin out of the bio diesel as it comes out of the tower, the resin can then be disposed of. To replace the resin, the vessel should be filled to 50% of its capacity and led down for the distribution tube to be screwed in without having to force it down into the resin, potentially damaging the tube
Seals These vessels are supplied as standard with an NBR (AKA Nitrile / Buna-N) Top Seal, which will swell when used with Bio Diesel, we therefore always recommend you purchase a replacement VITON O'Ring which is resistant to Bio Diesel
When replacing elements in filter housings with screw-on bowls we always recommend the use of Silicon O Ring Grease to aid tightening of the bowl, preventing pinching & scuffing and thus prolonging the life of the O Ring
