Emco Wheaton, API Coupler

API couplers should always be used in conjunction with a primary shutoff system such as a meter with preset valve. A relief valve must be provided for the trapped product between the secondary shutoff and the API coupler.

These couplers are intended for use on bottom loading arms used for loading petroleum tank trucks in a designated loading terminal gantry.

Design Standard

• API RP 1004 8th EDITION 2003 - Bottom Loading and Vapor Recovery; AS5602-2009.
• EN 13083:2008+A1:20133 (Note: this standard has replaced API Recommended Practice 1004 as the defining standard for bottom loading "API" adaptors in Europe)
• All couplers feature a 100mm / 4”NB TTMA Flange - 8 holes Ø11 mm on 149 mm PCD.

Suitable for use in a Zone 1 rated hazardous area. It is ATEX Certified Group II Category 2 G, Safe by Design, Gas group IIA, Temperature Rating T4;

• ATEX Designation: CE 0598 Ex II 2G c IIA T4   -20<=Ta<=+90C.

These coupliers can handle a wide range of different fuel grades, including petrol, diesel and kerosene held on tank trucks. It’s also capable of handling crude oil, biofuels, alcohol and solvents.

J0452:

• The J0542’s ergonomic design, which includes an optional integrated pump with filter element, virtually eliminates leakages and prioritises ease of operation. It comes equipped with EMCO Wheaton’s forged aluminium lever as standard and is built with a hard-coated anodised body for reliability in the field. In-situ nose seal replacement also means the J0452 is very easy to maintain, even after heavy repeat use.
• Much like all EMCO Wheaton API couplings, J0452 offers minimal pressure drop and a high flow rate. It also adheres to recognised international standards and industry codes of practice, including Canadian CRN approval.
